Volando • 2015

Volando, is a series of hummingbird photographs and poetry that metaphorically addresses the struggle of indigenous people and the natural intuitive drive to migrate for survival.  The work addresses how we are connected to our physical environments.  I am a third generation descendent of immigrants from Mexico and Spain.

As a woman and mother I have become increasingly alarmed at the number of Central American women and children seeking asylum in America. The injustices these people face within our judicial system is staggering, especially when you recognize that their ill treatment often breaks international law.  My inspiration begins with intensive research and then leads to image creation to create an emotional impact. Along with these metaphoric images, I aim to produce a series of correlating audio interviews and soundscapes.
